Research Program

The research program is divided into two main research areas. Area A investigates the mechanisms of nucleic acid immunity on the molecular and cellular level, whilst area B focuses on the functional consequences of nucleic acid immunity on a systemic level. Within each area the projects can be further subdivided into specific research topics:

Area A, Mechanisms of nucleic acid immunity on the molecular and cellular level:

1. Detection of nucleic acids

2. Regulation of nucleic acid recognition by nucleases and metabolism

3. Regulation of pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) and their signaling cascades

Area B, Functional consequences of nucleic acid immunity on a systemic level:

1. Response to pathogen-derived nucleic acids

2. Nucleic acid driven immunopathology

In addition to the research projects, there is also a central (Z) project which is responsible for the overall scientific and administrative coordination of the center.
